? A hot wire doesn't kill them. It just zaps them with a jolt of electrical current.

Dang it, the biggest one searched out where the wire was a bit lower, and walked right over it. It's 2 strands, and they can't go under without getting shocked, but Dh didn't get the top wire set quite high enough in a couple areas. I'll fine tune it tomorrow.

Supposed to freeze here tonight, first time in a long time.

Rats are running under the wire. It's just high enough, their fur is insulating them. 2 raccoons got zapped, and 1 opossum, so far. The one big raccoon will get his tomorrow night. Dh is setting out big rat traps now, too. The wildlife reign of terror WILL come to an end.

Just stick on another 1 or 2 strands, the wire is cheap. Listen to the little @#$% scream.

I've got rats in the barn, not sure how to trap them (rat, not havahart) without possibly getting a hen.

And what the heck are you doing still up at 2 AM???
