I survived a lot of carp in my 72 years but, I think this covid thing is gonna do me in. Don't feel like "fighting" anymore. Don't find pleasure in anything.
What's the point of just piling on more years? My father lived to 90 with many serious health issues.

I'm with you DD on that; what matters to me is quality of life, not quantity, and what is sometimes said to be prolonging life seems to me to be just prolonging death, making it unnecessarily long and lingering and painful (emotionally as well as physically). To each his or her own, I say.

It sounds to me like you are doing the best you can in a bad situation.

Thank you all. Trouble is I think my life has always been one bad situation after another, except when I was pregnant with my son.

Alaskan with 5 sons, I respect your knowledge about boys. My son is 34. He's mostly had a love/hate relationship with me.

He thought he'd never find a girlfriend, then she "found" him. For the most part, he has been very upbeat and happy. The pictures he shows me - of them together, you can see the love he has for her.

Well it's 2:46 am Monday, so I'm going to slip off to bed. Need my sleep so I can shelter in place for another day.

DD, it is possible that he is also getting cabin fever and would like to do something uplifting that seems helpful. Maybe you could give him a shopping list and let him get some stuff.

I'm hoping for "cabin fever" being the root of your son's meanness Diva.
I don't understand why you aren't taking advantage of the food and medical assistance you are entitled to. Seems that makes your life more difficult than it needs to be.

And yes if your son thinks your house needs updating for safety or to keep it from deteriorating, perhaps he can kick in the money for it. I know I would in that situation. I ASSUME he knows you are living on a low fixed income? If you own the house, is he the likely recipient when you pass? If so, and beyond wanting his mother to live a decent life!, he would surely want it to be worth inheriting, not something that is so decrepit it would be cheaper to destroy and rebuild than to repair.

Beer Can, that is so right. My son called and was sarcastic and just plain mean. After he hung up I thought about it and realized what is going on. He thinks I live dangerously because I go to the grocery story with mask and gloves and minding social distancing. I also do not take the first product or two on a shelf because people often start to take something, change their mind and put it back.

He thinks(I guess) I would be safer living at ground zero where he and his girlfriend are. He said they were out walking, wearing proper masks (the real ones), and the masks got so filled with ????? they couldn't breathe with them on. He also wants to order groceries for me and have them delivered to the house.

Then he lit into me because I haven't modernized the house(50 years old) or made improvements.

My sole income is SS $ 574 a month. I qualify for food stamps & medical card. I'm not receiving either. I pay for dental insurance etc. I had PA dental coverage years ago and the woman dentist made a total mess out of my teeth. She attempted 4 crowns and messed them up. She also attempted a root canal with dismal results. The next dentist told me she had probably tried to find the roots, didn't and filled the hole with cement. Duh . I asked if that was a common practice. he said H - no!!! Then a period where the governor dropped dental benefits for adults.

She moved to Michigan(her origin) because all her patients HERE were PA. I googled her and found several complaints from patients who said she had caused them pain, suffering and really wrecked their teeth. I believe them.

I would be due for dental work BUT, latest dentist is closed as are most in the state except for emergencies. My teeth are not at that point. Allegedly adult dental PA was reinstated but, my dentist doesn't accept it.
