I got my own place last Aug& couldn't wait to get chicks from the local Farmers Market but Lancaster was in the last section of Pa to open up this spring so I mail ordered through tractor supply.. Here we are in May...picture 1. Picture 2 was the same age, she jumped into my and and feel asleep. They are Easter Eggers Hens. I started with 10. While still sleeping in atub in the house a 'hen' started crowing. I had several that looked huge like roosters. An Amish friend bought him but wished for a couple hens as well so because this batch of chickens were turning out much larger than I anticipated, I sold her 3 others as well. And I didn't feel so guilty knowing my boy had some ladies since he did such an excellent job of caring for them. Enclosed is a picture of the first time he crowed from my shoulder. I'm having lots of fun with them! The last picture was yesterday. It was raining when I left them run around. When it stopped raining, I set my umbrella down and one of the girls wanted to see what it's like holding it.. Only she's to tiny for such a big thing!Did you tell us about your birds yet?

The babies are doing well. I am working on putting chicken wire on the inside of the field fence. I have one side done and another side started. Need more wire. I let them loose in the pasture and they didn't even try to escape. Then when it was time to go in, I called them and they all came.@CapricornFarm I've been meaning to ask you how your babies are doing? The little escapee isn't escaping any more is she?
