You don't stop using sugar, you use the ones that are digestible in the small intestine.. Not just high fructose, there are many different kinds of sugars. -there it's a lot to learn about how sugars react inside of you but because I ended up doing all those stomach exercises I filled my time reading about it until it made sense to me. Sugars include different kind of grains because they all turn into sugars but it's a big learning experiences and will only work if you put your all into it. A lot of people feel better on a gluten free diet and think they are gluten intolerant when in fact it is the sugars in wheat that are pretty often the culprit (not always). Yeah, they tested me. Said I had slow transit time. I did do an IBS diet for a while, but there was not much on the menu after I ruled out certain foods for other conditions I have.When they talk about sugars, it's all sugars including fruits, veggies, grain and added sugar. The diet is really strict at first but then you keep adding foods back into your diet one by one and you will learn what you can tolerate. It also gives your gut time to rest. I was on meds from Canada (not US approved) till it didn't work. My intestines stopped moving (no bms) & I can't take just any meds anymore. The diet,enzymes& probitics got me through. And unimaginable tests,stomach therapy.
I don't use BBQ sauce. Yeah, I studied all that in nursing school about sugars.Carbs turn into sugars and that's what the diet is bout...all sugars. I used to think meat made me sick. Now I know it's the high fructose sugar in barbecue sauce...sauces are killers to IBS. Check the sugars in bologna-white kind of sugar is used?
The older I get the more I fall apart. The list of medical conditions keeps growing !I just had no choice anymore, Hershey medical center was at the end of their options and My intestines stopped moving(morals no longer worked. Enemas were the only option and I had to stop then because of my kidneys). I too was on a kidney diet, low fat,low salt, low fiber,no dairy and couldn't take the medications anymore... Medical Drs said I need to do more natural. Kidneys were already at third stage and getting worse. At the same time got a crohns flare up and was diagnosed with hypoglycemia. I wasnt left with much variety of food but on that diet your not supposed to stay on the strict phase long, you gradually add foods back. I was at 100 lbs before the diet because I could hardly eat. On the diet I gained 20 lbs and that's where I stabilized. It's a balanced diet. I can now tolerate fiber which I couldn't for many years. I am now tolerating small amounts of milk which I couldn't before. I also use probiotics and digestive enzymes. Cook my own foods and scan labels. My hypoglycemia improved that I'm no longer scared to drive.
