The Old Folks Home

Afternoon Ron how is your day going ?
It is an ok day!

Air quality is over 200 so not very good but not as bad and Oregon.

I did mow the back yard, re attach the shade screen for the hens and chopped up an old lawn chair for the gargabe. That was enough of outside stuff!

My cockerels are needing to be separated. They're doing some fighting now. For those with bachelor pads, talk to me. If I do a bachelor pad, does that mean I should make it so the boys can't see the females? I can do that easily, and it would be a lot easier than trying to put them each into an individual cage.

Good question. Enquiring minds want to know.

Basic question. Bought a few birds from McMurray. Black cochins to play incubator. Among the three "black cochin", one of 3 males shows an area of brown feathers along his side. Other two do not. Trying to understand if this is a growth phase or a problem. No cochin SOP on BYC to ask.

I just put the young boys in the old Turkey coop and run. They can see hens , but also the roosters in charge of the hens. Problem is, it's hard to add more once they have their pecking order established.
