While evening skies gave been lovely here, Im all for getting control of the fires. Maybe controlled burns would be beneficial. But from what a scientist who studies forests said was the lack of rain is the game changer. Perhaps is that remains a factor controlled burning is too risky.
California gets little to no rain from March to November each year so that is not a factor here. The factor here is hotter weather. LA hit 121F the day before the fires started. Death valley hit 130F. The extra heat causes extra drying and then the odd winds and thousands of lightning strikes without rain caused the fires here in CaliforniaWhile evening skies gave been lovely here, Im all for getting control of the fires. Same here, not all that noticeable unless you were expecting totally clear skies. Apparently there was enough smoke way up there to limit our temp today. It was supposed to be about 60°, never got over 55°.Good morning OF. There's a haze in the high atmosphere. Local weather guy said it is smoke from the west coast fires.
