The Old Folks Home

I can top that one, Bruce. Our cell reception and voice mails are so bad that my favorite cousin died in July of 2019 and I got the voice mail news in December of 19.
Voice mail? At home? Ha ha! :D I've had that, it might be TracFone. I once got a voicemail in June that had to have been sent in May based on the caller and topic. TF tells you the time of the call and the day of the week, not the date. Must be they think everyone has their phone surgically attached to their body and on 24 hours a day. Ours are turned off if they aren't plugged in or the battery dies as it continually looks for signal. I guess TF doesn't check for VM every time it gets signal?

Sister-in-law sent 3 texts from the house Thursday evening. Two to both DW and me, one to DW only. DW got the ones to both of us (when we got home, neither of us had our phones), didn't get the one sent to her for about 24 hours.

It changed carriers seamlessly.
TracFone does that. When Dad and I were bringing some of my Mom's furniture from So. Cal to VT in 2003 I had signal the whole way, his Verizon phone dropped out even when we could see a cell tower, clearly not a Verizon tower. TracFone uses Verizon towers when they are available. Too bad they don't can't decide to use the T-Mobile tower 3/4 mile up the road for us. But I guess it gets "enough" Verizon signal to think it actually exists.

Why is it we can put people in a space station, send an unmanned exploration mission to Mars but we can't get a stinking cell phone service that works!?
Good question!!!!!!

I really need to get some updated pictures of the little heathens
Yes you do!

He he he, I'm stoked... Charlotte laid her very first egg today, she's 23 weeks old. Little Sara is holding out on me, She's BR x BA/Silkie cross. I'm not gonna hold my breath. It happens when it happens.
I took a photo of Charlotte's first egg, compared to her mom's and the BCM pullet I have. Charlotte's full brother is in with the BCM so I think her offspring will continue throwing nice dark eggs.

I started weeding my heavy soil garden. I got a bucket of weeds for the chickens plus a cart full of grass.

Good news: I saw a lot of worms. Good news: I didn't see any grubs. Bad news: Sorry, chickens, I didn't see any grubs.
Wormssss!! My garden was full of wigglies when I turned it over last month.. I'm so happy. It's only the second year I've worked that area.. It's just a small kitchen garden. I threw some wigglers in with the hens and they looked at them, then at me and had the strangest look on their faces.. like "Huh?" Now, hold out a grub and it's anything goes.

I cleaned the weeds off my garden in the fall and over the winter it got covered with chick weeds. I took the chickens out every day until they cleaned it up for me. It was only fair they got to clean up all the worms when I turned the soil to! I did a little every day until I was finished the past week. Now they are spoiled! The rainy days have worms literally sprawled across the yard. The first time ever I can't take all 6 chickens out with me at a time. When it comes to worms, there are no boundaries between me and the neighbors. The Chickens spread across the yard in all 6 directions and won't come back when I call them. So I left 2 out till they were gorged, then the next two.. Eventually when they all had a turn, I left all out at once. Yes, I had an umbrella and they were soaked, but it was 55°. I googled to see if they could get sick from too many worms but all I could find was they shouldn't full up on meal worms

I've got a garden full of hen bit and I'm leaving it, white clover and dandelions alone. I'm using them as a sort of cover crop to keep the sun off of the bare ground. Also hen bit and dandelions are edible. Also I don't have to till in between rows.

Me either, don't care to have the sun beating down on my head and don't need the loss of headroom.

Nope! Not up this way, it is just a hint that spring WILL get here. We will be down near or below freezing the next few nights.

Go out to get cell reception? Hah! We are lucky when texts go through ... if we stand in the right part of the house. Forget making or taking a call. We have a landline and DSL internet.
Our sunroof does not leak! We never open it though...

It rained last night here.

The egg turner in the incubator failed, and the thing had less than 2 weeks worth of use all total. Crummy equipment.

Edited for an update: I shook the egg turner, and it seems to have restarted. Hope it survives long enough for me to get a new and better setup.
Do you have the flat tray type of egg turner? If so, you can purchase a new motor from incubator warehouse.
