Here's Fort McCluck in progress.. We are living in 'field' conditions here.. but everybody seems to enjoy it.

Here's another shot of "Avian Way".. one nice thing about this set up, is I can individually let small groups out to free range while I'm out there working.

Only predator problem I had was a possum (so far) and he was using the cedar tree to climb up to the top and go down branches to get in the big pen... I've also made a spiral ring of hot wire up the tree to prevent that from happening again, besides... that bad boy possum ended up being vulture food.

Good morning everyone. Looks like a beautiful Saturday here. Hope everyone has a great weekend with good weather.

Still living. Waiting for lab reports and referrals. Had a migraine this afternoon, which is unusual for me. So I took some pills and a nap. Plum tree is in bloom, at least one of them is.

My turner jumped the track somehow, not sure when... they were only two days along, so I stopped that incubation. There will be more when the Nurture Right 360 gets emptied.. maybe.. need more pens again.

Middle grand got her ears pierced today. She's proud of her new little earrings, and they do look cute on her.

I recall at 12. My oldest step brother came for a visit.. He was like 35 then so took me to local big mall got mine ears done pierced..
My Ma throw a fit at Jim that he had that done and paid for it

Well yeah.. I have the HUGE PEN divided in half, only using half of it.. Two hoop coops, the old dog pen converted , a small round pen, and the new larger turn out pen.. But I have 16 outside, 9 in brooders, and 12 in the incubator.. that brings me to 16 outside with 21 in the house in various stages of development.. Gonna have to sell babies I guess.

Penny, it took a lot of convincing, and a few years for my mother to let me get mine done. I was 12 too when I was finally able to get them done. It was my birthday present.

Circa 13 or 14 years of age for ear piercing and -- BOY -- did Mom ever need convincing. She was very Victorian and equated it with (her words) putting a bone through my nose like a savage. But after much convincing and pointing out everyone's ears, she relented. A trip to the mall and little gold ball posts. I added a second piercing to one ear in college, but that was ice/cork/needle DIY. Great for all those single posts that lost their partner. Still have the original holes, the secondary one is a dimple and hasn't been used in a couple of decades.
