The Old Folks Home

I gots a problem with mice burrowing under the pen walls, gonna have to set traps, except in KE and Sara's pen... This morning was the second morning in a row I found a dead mouse in their pen. KE is a booger.. He raced past me this morning and went over to see my Bielefelder Rooster.. He thought he was such a big shot and had his feathers all puffed up and stuff. What a bean brain, except when killing mice for me.

And Sara laid her first egg today. She was the last of the 23 week olds to get her act together. I'm so proud of her.

Here's land I've cleared.. I stopped mowing where I had cleared it a year before.. The unmowed portion was bare ground last year. Not a speck of ground cover at all. But rich soil that had been hiding under privet, vines, briars, etc.

Yeah, so green there and lots of mulch!

Tomorrow someone is coming over to see about repairing an old chicken coop. Really nice thick wood on it, and it was standing there with the roof on the ground right side up next to it when I bought the place, no idea how that happened. Strong winds knocked one wall down last month. I think it would look better reassembled with some cluckers and a crower in it. Maybe he could even move it closer to the house.

They put in our new pool/spa lighting today. I was taking a nap while they put it in. When I awoke, I wanted to try it out. To go to the different settings (it does various colors, and patterns), one must flip the on/off switch a certain number of times. There is a chart with a key to the different settings, and the number of times the switch is to be flipped for the desired effect. Our pool light switch was already one of the wall switches, by the slider going out to the patio.

As I began flipping the switch, it didn't want to work right. Dh had the audacity to ask if I was flipping the switch right. Really? It's a light switch. Of course, he had to come to show me how it's done. It didn't work right for him either. Hahaha. It seems the wall switch needed replacing. We have several new ones in the garage, since we've already had to replace a few of them. Now everything is working just fine. I have to say, I really do like it.
