Dd #1 has been helping me take care of my chickens for quite some time now. There is 1 rooster I've had to deal with attitude, off and on for some time now. He's gotten to where he initially bites hard, anytime I try to get him to dust him, trim spurs, or worm him. I have to put gloves on to deal with him initially. Usually, once I start dealing with him, he settles on down. Several months ago, I was tending the coop, and he charged at me, but stopped short, when he got to me. I put him into rooster training for a few days, and he settled back down, and has been fine.
A couple weeks ago, I noticed a change. Yes, he moves out of my way when I go into the run, and approach him, but not as lively as before. Yes, he resumes normal activities, once he's out of my way. No stink eye, no shoulder lean. Normally he stays in the run with a few of his ladies, while I head on into the coop to do chores. A couple weeks ago, I noticed he's been sneaking behind me in the coop while I do chores. Not too close, nothing to really suggest anything out of place, but this is not the normal routine for him. (Yes, I've had roosters that followed me everywhere I went, and never a problem, but that was normal for them).
Yesterday, Dd #1 was headed to the coop to check on the chickens. I told her they were watered, and fed, but I had forgotten to take the basket out to collect eggs. Off she went. When she came back in, she was both angry, and flustered. She announced that rooster had signed his death warrant, and he is to be dispatched.
He was out in the run, she began collecting eggs in the coop, and he sneaked in behind her without her realizing it. One of the hens in the coop wanted some attention. This is normal. When she went to pet the hen, he came flying across the coop, and nailed her with his spurs. Thank goodness, she's paid attention to what I've said, and had the rooster stick with her. She got him under control, but it took a bit. By the time she got through, he was high stepping to get out of her way, and was not sneaking up behind her. That's fine, but it's the second time he's had to be dealt with, so he will be dispatched.
She was funny though. She is one of the most mellow people you'd ever meet. Very little rattles her cage. It was so funny hearing her comments. How dare he do that. Even the ones in the rooster pen wouldn't dare behave that way. He can be replaced. If he's not smart enough to know how to behave, after all this time, maybe he's smart enough to be a feather pillow. Who does that little jerk think he is?

Welp, another one bites the dust! Sorry @getaclue . I've sent all the roos that got 'high and mighty' over to Tommy Hutto's farm. I have no clue what he does with them and don't want to know, but if they show the slightest sign of aggression to me they leave here. I don't feel like tending wounds too much.
On another note... GOOD MORNING OF. Big storms moving through here this morning. Haven't had any rain in over a week, so it'll all pile up at one time. Supposed to get an inch or two of liquid sunshine. Gator is hiding under the desk (He doesn't much care for thunder and lightning). So, another day in the house just doing house stuff I guess.

Price of well used vehicles right now is ridiculous. DW's been looking for another Suburban. We bought a mostly rust free 2001 with 150thou miles several yrs ago for 5,500. Guess what all of them we have seen around same yr with 180-200thou mi are going for right now?
6-8grand...
Our oldest DD, 22, last summer bought a brand new GMC terrain awd. I tried to talk her out of it (we've never bought new) but she said every vehicle she looked at with less than 50,000 mi was $18g. She bought that new with full 100,000mi warranty for $23,500, and financed through GM at 2.5%.
Good Day OF's. We had some good rain come in last night. It seems the last couple of hours it went on both sides of us and we didn't get much.
When I was a kid Grandma had some extra roo's just turned out of the coop. One of them would always wait for you to walk by then follow and flog you if your back was turned. I started carrying a broom stick for him. I got where I could time it and he was close enough when I turned around, a light swing to the head and he was standing back up about the time I came back out after taking care of the chickens. Once it took a little longer I thought I killed him and would get in trouble.
And Propane, Natural Gas, Diesel, and Gasoline.
I ordered some Propane about a month ago. I just said put x amount of dollars in there thinking it would get me to 60+% and it would hold me until August when the price drops. After he left I checked and only had 38%. If I had looked before he was done I would've almost doubled that X amount.
Well well well, splendiferous! Today is day 19 on the hatch. It'll be 20 later this evening, and dontcha know it, one of Muffin's eggs is pipping. Don't know what caused me to look, after checking chicks with the flashlight, but I did, and there it be.. pipping away. So, of the 6 Prince x BCM chicks at 3 weeks, 2 have the red leakage already. Maybe only 2 cockerels? I can always hope. The one totally black EE chick has some funny leakage in the neck feathers that are starting to come in. And one of Henrietta's (BSL) chicks has white marks on the end of it's wing feathers. I just wonder if it's going to be like the Cockoo she was paired to. I did love him so.
