The Old Folks Home

We get butterfly moths around here. And these. This one I saved from a spider web View attachment 2813479
Just looked this one up. It can have a wing span of up to 6 1/4 inches. There are several pecan trees and sweet gum trees near the house that are actual hosts to these loverlies.

And speaking of pecan trees. Last year I fertilized both the pecan trees near the house. They both produced an abundance of 'nuts' but half were still bad. I didn't bother to fertilize them this year and lo and behold, while I was out spreading more sevin around with the spreader I found nuts already falling from the tree in back of the house. It produces small pecans, and wouldn't you know it, every one I picked up had been munched on my squirrels and they were all good. Maybe I'll have a decent crop this year.

Little early for pecans here. November usually before we start picking up under public trees.

I am back from the Orthopedics appt. I have a knee that is very bad for a 61 year old!

Story of my life lol.

I got a cortisone shot and if it does not work, I go back for an MRI to see if there is something functional to fix inside the knee. If not, the next step would be replacement. I want to wait for that though!

Ron Ron Ron, now you are wayyyy to young to be a member of the bad joint club!

Really sorry to hear that you didn't get good news from the ortho, glad though that they did an injection. Take care. I'm sure this isn't your first rodeo so remember to take it easy.

The good news is my right knee is doing well!

It was a bit shocking to see that joint in the xray lol! I just checked the clinic portal and I will not be able to access the xrays until Aug. 30th.

Ron, if you need to, get the knee replacement. I know plenty of people that have gotten it, and the one comment I hear often is "if I had known it would turn out this good, I would have done it a lot sooner".
After the past couple of weeks I would agree!

The internist that is my regular Dr. said to not wait until I was 70. I do not think I have that long until the knee is completely shot.

Good morning, OF.
We have Wolf spiders here
Wolf spiders are members of the family Lycosidae. These are athletic spiders that don't spin webs to catch their prey; instead, they run it down.

There is one living in the cellar. She hangs out by one of the sump pumps. She is at least 4" across. Biggest that I have ever seen.
