The Old Folks Home

Yep plus dogs had their last heart worm treatment till April! We do 6 on over spring and summer and six off over late fall and winter.

I read an article about Yellow Jackets that said they normally aren't that aggressive until Fall rolls around and their food supply drops off. Then they get 'grumpy' because they are starving to death.

Guess that would make me a bit more crotchety than usual too.

I forgot how pretty Snowball was, @CSolis.

Countess is from a hen that was sold to me as a chick and claimed to be an EE. She and Muffins were siblings. Looks to be white brahma in them.
This was Snowflake. She laid blue eggs, and became my first broody.View attachment 2896576
And her hatchmate Muffins. Same color but she's got the muffs!View attachment 2896575
Dad is purportedly to be a Bielefelder. He's got the comb, wattles and temperament, but a bit lacking in coloring for one.View attachment 2896585 Though he has darkened up quite a bit over the summer as he aged.
Good looking birds,

Good looking birds,
TY! and their children are awesome. Remember these three girls.. all laying now! And Turtle Dove too! though she's a bit slow in the egg department. Once they started laying, they lay daily.

From left to right, Countess, Marsha Mello and Owlie. She has a snow owl stare that is something. Turtle Dove (TD) is below.

DH has never met Nastasia Kinski. Well, that I know of... :lau
He still has the possibility! She's a mere 60 years old.

Maybe you need to put out yellow jacket food until it gets cold enough for them to go hibernate (or whatever the heck they do).

I'm feeding a bunch of freeloading hens right now with the exception of one who is giving me two little light brown eggs a week so no way I'm putting out food for freeloading Yellow Jackets! They can just go on stealing fruit from the apple trees until nights like tonight roll along and it gets down to 27. Then well, it sux being Mr. Yellow Jacket.

As you can tell, I have no sympathy for insects that sting me.
