The Old Folks Home

No, potential 8 inches is fine and enough for me. It's not the snow, it's the blowin' around that gets to be a pain.

You shower to feed your chickens? Mine don't care if I smell like a locker room as long as I show up with their morning bread ration and a bucket of food!

If I don't smell before I go in, I will when I go out. I wish somebody would figure out a way to litter box train chickens.
Poop trays!

Good morning everyone! We added a section of fencing between the barn and the goat pasture so we don't end up having some run off . The gates are made of cattle panels, so kids can run right through. So i need to cover them with chicken wire. I got one done yesterday, between other chores and going out to dinner. 2 more to be done. The oldest kids are a week old and plenty mobile, so they and their Mother can enjoy some outdoor time.

Well, I've reduced my herd to one Rooster/cockerel for each pen/group of hens. Tommy came and picked up the 5 young cockerels from the last hatch I did. 6 eggs/5 cockerels. Moved Cornflower in with Captain Shadow since his running mates had disappeared on him, and she wasn't welcome at all in the pen where Turtle Dove is. I'm telling ya, since she started laying eggs, she's become bossy hen. So, there's Gen Lee, Turtle Dove and Corn Puff in one big hoop coop. I end up with 30 females and 8 male chickens. Prince Charming stays in a pen by himself (the one winger) as he's too rough on the ladies. If and when I need his services, I'll put ladies in with him for a couple of weeks, unless he matures and shows some manners. But then again, I don't plan on hatching anything this year but a few eggs from my 'littles' Turtle Dove's eggs for sure, and a few from King Wheaties, and a few from KE and Peg (her eggs are easy to spot).

Just popping in to wish you all a happy and healthy New Year! Stay safe everyone!
