Good day to make bone broth in the Instant Pot. I took a bunch of "junk" out of the freezer. That's what DH calls my bags of bones and vegetable end/skins. But he sure liked the soup I made with the bone broth. That's not "junk" dear, it's ingredients.

Here's another pot of coffee; help me drink it!

17F with a -F real feel this morning.

Oh, you had a WARM morning! -13°F here plus wind this morning. It has made it up to -9°F now.

I discovered flannel lined jeans several years ago. I think I even suggested to @N F C that she invest in some when she first moved here from Florida. I absolutely live in them in the winter, especially now. Kidney disease can affect different people’s systems so differently. With Linda, losing her kidneys overnight affected her heart. With me it’s knocked my adrenal system for a loop. I can’t regulate my body temperature. I’m always extra cold in winter and can’t cool myself well in summer. So I’m doubly glad now that I have a closet full of flannel everything!

I'm wearing mine now! Soon as the furnace guy calls back I have to pull up my big boy pants (and don insulated coveralls and tall winter boots) and go out to check the chickens and alpacas. They should be fine but it's time to replenish food and water.

I'm wearing mine now! Soon as the furnace guy calls back I have to pull up my big boy pants (and don insulated coveralls and tall winter boots) and go out to check the chickens and alpacas. They should be fine but it's time to replenish food and water.


Well *I* have never seen anyone on BYC say "Blooie will you zip it!!!!"

Winter is the only time I don’t miss having chickens!!

Maybe they don’t say it, but I’m sure they think it from time to time!

What I don't like is having to load my little plastic sled up with buckets of water and feed and pulling it up the hill to the coop with snow over my ankles and the wind coming from the northwest and hitting me smack in the face.

Once I get inside with the birds and see how well they cope with the cold weather and not being able to go outside the discomfort changes. They are happy to see me with my pockets crammed full of bread and to see those eager little faces and watch them jump up and down at the door like they are saying TREAT LADY! TREAT LADY! TREAT LADY! You're here! You came to see us! And suddenly trudging through the snow and the wind making my eyes tear up and isn't all that big a deal.

Flannel jeans, yep, gottem! Here they are as important as muck boots.
