The Old Folks Home

OUch! Well I got my yearly 'accident' out of the way already. Slipped and ended up on my keister on the bottom step of the back stairs. Glad I was already close to the bottom. So, I landed on my backside banging ribs and elbow as well. Worst thing of it was I was carrying 3 dozen eggs to a friend... only 6 survived the mishap. Boogers, now I have to wait several more days.
It's really rather funny. When I was raising and training horses, I always felt fortunate to be thrown off, stomped or otherwise in January. That meant clear sailing the rest of the year!

Hope you aren't too sore

Don't feel bad @CSolis. Yesterday I was coming back from the chicken coop. Had to cross the skating rink better known as the driveway. Did great going up, coming back, stepped down, felt my right heel slide on black ice (I swear it looked like that gravel was just wet!) and had enough time to remember what to do from cross country skiing and set my butt down before I could land hard on it. Wound up on my back with the dog licking my face.

Only thing wounded was my pride.....and my butt. Not as much padding back there as I used to have.:gig Glad you didn't get hurt. What's that old saying don't cry over broken eggs...or is that spilt milk...same difference.

Sorry to put it this way, but it's just DAMNED cold here. -3 this morning. High of 10 this afternoon. They are calling for -5 tomorrow morning. I went outside this morning and my poor little bantam boys were huddled in the only sun beam shining in their coop. I was scooping up little boys and stuffing them in my coverall to warm them up. I'm seriously considering bringing them in tonight and putting them in the brooder coop till morning. Everyone else seems to be doing okay. As it was I hooked up a 'mamma heating pad' for them to get under but that won't help them tonight.
