Exactly,, Someone had previously painted the smaller boards under the overhang a light color which was worn. I decided for a box like look as the hammock goes under the same overhand. The moss green is so much easier on the eye than 4 shades of baby brown poo.

Also.... do you get birds in those bird houses? Or are they just decorative?

I transformed the previous house I had pretty much the same was. Lowe's was having a sale on buckets of paint. From $120 to $25 (big discount) and I kinda went overboard on it.

I've got a few house wrens that love to hang out on the porch. Just giving them some place to nest if they want. Last year I was leaving the back door open in the spring for air flow, and one just kept insisting the shelf over the window at the end of the kitchen was just the right spot to build a nest.
