The Old Folks Home

Somebody asked me to post pics of the new chicks I got last week. They were a week old yesterday and got a dust bath and, as I removed the little barrier keeping them in their brooder pen, they got the whole coop to enjoy.

So now they zoom around as fast as they can. Totally cracks me up.

A couple of them like to be picked up and held for a bit--by that I mean if I put my hand down, they hop on. I'm trying not to grasp them to pick them up unless I have a poopy butt to wash. Fortunately, no more poo-butts.

Awwww cuteness alert! Adorable chicks, @Hermits Garden and thanks for reminding me that I want to go down to the stream behind the house and get some sand so mine can get their first dirt bath in.

My babies are 13/14 days old now and growing way too fast which Fayoumis have a tendency to do. Every now and then I'm hearing an all too adult sounding churup from one of the cockerels. Another two weeks and they will be crowing.

I brought in a pan of dirt for my babies. In typical fashion, they weren't sure what to do with it yet and this is one of those things that a broody would show her babies. I love my chicks but I'm not about to lie down in dirt and show them the fine art of dirt bathing.

I spent the day watching the guy put in our new internet system. Of course, that meant I got elected to run back and forth to check on various components, and inform him of their status. It took part of the day, but he finally got everything up, and running correctly.

While all that was going on, my new fiber optic cable came in. After the guy left, and everything was working, it was time to tackle running the cable from my computer, to the receiver on my home theater system. I discovered I am not nearly as flexible as I used to be. I've got a bit of a backache tonight. To get it run properly, there were times I looked like a contortionist, fishing the line around, and through the obstacle course. It looks good. Yes, the new cable was worth the effort no matter what my back is telling me.
