The Old Folks Home

Took the truck to the Ford Auto Body Shop. We told him our insurance company said they wanted it totally restored to new. The head of the dept. was preparing me for a let-down, and began mentioning things like, "well, they don't like to replace anything that can be pounded, and bondoed, buffed out, repainted, etc. so it will look as good as new, but won't be as good as new". He told us the insurance company would give an estimate, based on the pictures, and that they would set the amount for repairs, and Ford had to stay within the set amount, unless they found something not shown in the pictures, and would adjust accordingly.

We talked to the insurance adjuster, then the guy at the Auto Body dept. called us back. The insurance company is NOT doing an estimate. They told him that they want it "restored to new" and want Ford to submit their estimate. Our insurance company will take their cue regarding cost, based on Ford's estimate. The insurance adjuster will go there tomorrow to get the estimate, more pictures, etc. The auto body dept. guy expressed surprise at how they are handling it, but yes, they don't want it pounded out, buffed out, etc. They want anything/everything damaged to be totally replaced. He commented it's very unusual that an insurance company does that.

We've had the same insurance company forever. The last claim we submitted was back in 2001, and it involved damage from vandalism, not a wreck. I've had "safe driver" on my license for at least 25 years. They know it's longer than that, but the information has only been on computers for 25 years. I pre-date the computer age. They know I was not at fault, and I even have a witness that was sitting on their porch when it happened, that saw the whole thing, and corroborated what I said. In addition, this truck is only 4 months old, with less than 2,000 miles on it. They know my last vehicle was a year 2000 SUV, and still in decent shape when I got this one. Our insurance company is doing everything they can to make this right.

Looking at flooring on home depot 120 square foot room 40 bucks for laminate
$40/sq ft???? Might as well put down real wood.

I don't know if the local grocery chain is going to have their special on turkey closer to Thanksgiving, so I'm going to go get one tomorrow. They are EXPENSIVE right now, but DH doesn't want to miss out.
Once a year event, not getting a frozen fatty, salt water and spice infused, factory farm turkey that lived crammed in a barn with thousands of other turkeys. $4.25/lb for a never frozen free ranging bird that will have still been walking around 4 miles by road from here the Monday prior to Thanksgiving.

I was driving home, and got into an accident.
What!!! OH NO!!!!! Glad you are OK

Very, but are they going to be able to recover the cost from the at fault person? Or at least as much as is "usual and customary" for repairs for that type of damage?

I had the same Insurance since 1984. Recently was disenchanted with them and the house we own. They wanted to put a half a million replacement. We live in tiny town,
we will never see those Prices in my life at least.
Cheesecake is in the oven.

Sour, i dreamed i took your dog for a walk! It was so real, and she looked lovely. She told me she misses both of you, but feels so much better.
Oh, wow, Cap. You made me cry. I miss her so very much. Weird thing just happened today. One of her balls had been on the front yard by her favorite tree. I was going to bury it with her ashes, but it disappeared. Both the Princess and I looked for it. Today it reappeared by her tree in a slightly different place.

I have very vivid dreams. Full color, very long and involved, like a movie. I have flown over the ocean and watched sea turtles swimming below. I have swum with a whale, and we looked each other in the eye. It was thrilling. Maybe the gypsy blood from Europe? Like out of body experiences. I wish i could film some of my dreams. Plus i feel great while dreaming, like i left my body pain behind.

Good morning!
A brand new month.
Folks ask how I'm doing. The standard reply is "I'm fat, happy and upright."

Been off-line for a bit because we're in the midst of renovations here. First was two bathrooms inside, and now is some outside remodeling. We lost a pecan tree out front and where was once shaded grass is now scorched earth, so we've cried "Surrender!" on having lawn in that part of the yard. My knees are still problematic -- and will be until surgery -- and thusly we've hired out. The crew is installing a flagstone patio and walkway which will wend around the side of the house to the newly constructed parking pad. The dormant fountain in the backyard will be relocated out front. Plus a clearing out of the veggie compound which has seen no weeding for 1.5 years along with removal of three trees. Our long driveways are getting regraveled, too. 31 tons of gravel has a new home in my yard. Well, at least it gives the neighbors something to speculate on. Looking forward to when supervisions of the projects are totally done as the social life is suffering, plus I'm not an early morning person (although for some reason the dogs have been wanting to view the dawn lately, so I'm up with them.)

Not complaining as I'm fat, happy and upright....and dodging the curveballs.

I get this. The Princess's maternal grandmother was caravan gypsy in Hungary. She immigrated to the US to escape that life. Both my MIL and the Princess have/were blessed/cursed with ESP and the power of foresight. Keeps me on the straight and narrow.
