My first calculator was a slide rule.... Right now I'm ruled by 40 ish Rhode Island Reds, 40 ish Delawares, Almost 30 White Giants, Almost 20 Dark Cornish, 40+ White American Bresse, Nearly 20 very mature CXR's, About 40 4 week old RIR, 32 3 day old RIR mix. That's keeping this old man busy from daylight til after dark. I do know how to sneak in a couple of naps during the day. May brings 30 Anconas and a few White Laced Red Cornish, July brings 25 Rhode Island White pullets, 10 Male French Black Copper Marans, and something else lost at the moment in the cranial cobwebs, September brings 25 Welsummers, and October another 25 RIR pullets of a different line. Some people like scrambled eggs, I like scrambled chicken math. I think this is a full confession. If not I plead worn out gray matter. I know I've left off some but can't remember which ones. I did order some 5-10 of odd breeds. When available I want some Buff Brahmas for pets and some Indio Gigante for security patrol.

Good afternoon all. Up from my nap and have to come out of retirement long enough to do a walk about among my feathered kids.

Crappy weather. Snow, sleet, rain, wind. In other words... April.

The tease of 70s-80s for the past few days was... just mean.

Ok, ok. The return to cold weather is keeping the fruit trees and blueberries from blooming, and that's a good thing.

Yea that is a good thing. After one year of getting fruit from my fruit trees in TN every year since not a piece of fruit to be had. So we sold out, packed up and rolled on down to S AL. Peaches doing well. Citrus did get wiped out with 3 nights of 15° in a row. Glad it didn't bother the hens.

We are not super warm in the high 40's birds had a good time out most
the day. A few got out again to the main yard. No dogs out at that time either.
