I'll be there in November. Where did the 70's go? Went to a viewing this morning of a woman that turned 90. She was the mother of a good friend..boyfriend of my best friend in High School. I dated a friend..of his. Make sense? Anyway, her door was always open to us teens. We hung around there quite a bit. She was a good woman. My High School girlfriend and I went together. Of course her past boyfriend was in the line for his mother. My past boyfriend was there because he ended up marrying a relative of hers..think a niece. I had heard he had bladder cancer but was told today that he's in remission. I had stood in the doorway when we first got there to see if I could see him. Of course I was looking..for a bit of a familiar face. Well that was silly of me. His friend in line pointed him out. He was bald on top with very white hair circling around the bald. He had red hair in his younger years. I went up to him asked him if he knew who I was. He had one of those special hearing aids attached to his head. He says..what? I repeat but went ahead and told him. His wife says...my whole name..with a question mark. Not everyone could say my name right, but she did. I remembered seeing her back in the day when visiting this family. Well, when she said my whole name he looked up at me real quick. At least he remembered my name..just didn't recognize my face any more than I did his. Up close I could see the eyes, the mouth. Those eyes..clear blue. I was sad, I didn't see him smile once as I stood and talked with his wife about the sweet gal that had passed. Now, she had a bucket list. I remember seeing her in a grocery a few times through the years. She told me she was going to jump out of a plane. I thought..hmm..hope those bones hold up..she was old then. Well, she did it..twice! Once at 85 and then 90. She was 90 when she passed! She must have done it in the beginning of her 90's. What a lady. They had film up of her, different photos of her, some of her falling to the earth with a great big smile on her face. And...her going along on a zip line! ..again..in her later years. It was quite the morning. Left me feeling a bit, a bit, ..I don't know how to describe it. Time is going by so fast. My boyfriend from my past graduated 2 years before me. I have a late birthday so we were under 2 years apart. Seeing him looking closer to 80 was so sad. He's been through a lot though..makes a difference. I wonder how old I look.@Pollo Blanco I'll get an electric start when I can't kick my 125 over any more.
And yes, I do have DMSO on hand for injuries. Use it a lot on the dogs. Especially the ACDs they are always hurting themselves and one another.
Hope everyone is staying cool. It's 99° here right now. Toasty. Celebrated my 70th birthday last Tuesday. Was handling it well until my SIL sent me a card about 'looking back on my life and celebrating the life I have lead'. Felt like it was an obituary. Crap. Pretty much crashed and burned after that in spite of my dear husband giving me a perfect birthday. Took me a few days to get my feet back under me but told DH yesterday, well, I survived my first week of being 70. Think I'm good to go. SIL is celebrating her 69th birthday this week. Pay back next year is going to be sweet.
Ok, I wrote a book. Was an interesting morning. Getting some micro bursts and a bit of rain. We'll take the rain. Have a great day tomorrow. I'm going to take it easy..after watering.
