The Old Folks Home

Rain started first time today. Went out to scrape the tables and boards.
Heard the rain start loud on the roof, stopped in the garden for lettuce.
Jacket was dripping but is a carhart raincoat so me stayed dry.
When working on a cattle ranch in MO in the 70's I wore Carhart coveralls when those winter temps went below 20° and just kept on going.

Ugh..my problem this past week. Going away now. Have to wonder if the vaccines got me a bit sick this time..started out as a bit of runny nose. Then a small bleeding. Or...the heat being turned on for the first time this year..in the mornings. That does get me at first.
It is good that you are feeling beter!

We are using heat pumps this year so there will be no gunk added to the air from the gas heater.

And Hawaii.
I didn't realize chickens ran free in so many places. Last month I read an article on the Washington Post about how some type of wood tick in Mexico they can't beat and and it's killing children mostly, as they are who are playing with their dogs in the dusty streets.

They have lots of pictures of the area, and I noted I did not see one chicken or guinea. Chickens can eat 80 ticks per day. I am sure they'd have them there if they thought it would help but this confuses me.

I have a subscription to WaPo so you can read it if you're interested:

Morning Old Folks. Just cold and windy 61 might be the high.
I think fall is here !
That is exactly what the temp is here right now, and is our high for the day too.
The low is 54. The maples are all turning and a couple are red already. Fall is coming fast!
