The Old Folks Home

If I move the knee wrong, I get a sharp pain.

I am putting of the knee replacement to retirement so I have a year or tow to go.

An Internist I went to several year ago said to get the replacement before age 70 since outcomes are not as good past that age.
What BMI does the Surgeon want you to get to?
That I don't know. I can't change the fact that I take a BP med and have a stent. I know that if I drop 30 lbs my BMI should be really good. I walk every day as I can to help lose weight and need to find a way to drop come carbs like I'm done in the past. Right now carbs are a problem. I've just got to get a low carb menu plan and stick with it.

Hopefully the weight loss will help with the Blood Pressure.

I've got my ortho appt next Monday to see if I qualify -- now that I've lost 30 lbs -- for my first knee replacement. :wee
The only thing that could skew this is if I've shrunk to set my BMI back. I'm 5'4" -- that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
I googled the BMI for knee surgery and I am below that currently. Hopefully I cand keep from gaining weight over the next couple of days!

For insurance purposes, my doc mandates patients out of the extremely obese category. Just plain ol' obese is okay.
I don't require a lift truck to get around. And I don't intend on ever needing one. Right now I'm 60lbs lighter than my all time body weight. I have a lot of clothes that I can't wear because they fold up bad when a belt gets tight enough to hold the up. Need to box them and donate them to a shelter or a thrift store.

Morning Old Folks slow and steady, rubber boots.
We have the rain back allot of it.
Looks like this latest atmospheric river is really going to swamp you folks north of me! We're having a warm overcast but rainless day today before the next onslaught, so I'm headed outside for whatever garden work I can accomplish today; the chickens will enjoy the buckets of fresh weeds!

More heavy rain + small hail starts tomorrow through...maybe middle of next week? They're not saying. Expecting maybe another 3" but who knows?

Hmmm, as I type I'm seeing coastal fog drifting through the trees into the yard. Better climb into my overalls and get my fanny out there!

After all the injections, lotions, potions, goos and salves, plus using the over-the-counter Naproxen and NSAIDs, I found that CBD gummies were the answer to my knee pain. Taken at night I get a good night's sleep, too. It took a bit (maybe a week) to really notice the effect of pain subsiding.
It won't fix your knees, but it makes getting around a lot easier.
