The Old Folks Home

I have a Stella sweet cherry tree which is supposed to be self fruitful. The deer nearly killed it many times but this year it bloomed and had lots of cherries which were eaten by the squirrels before they had a chance to ripen.
I'm hoping my Stella sweet cherry bears this year. I wonder if chickens can make good use of squirrel soup?

Can recall eating Squirrel as a kid in Wisconsin.
Morning Old Folks.
I have a mix of accents I get strange looks from friends.
After winning a 410 shotgun in a high school magazine selling contest I started squirrel hunting. Ate a few fried but not many. I think every time I cleaned one the stench was worse than the last time.

My folks...probably just my dad, got me a 410 shotgun when I was around 15. He would pay me a quarter for every house sparrow or starling I could shoot. Advance about 15 years after that when I outshot 15 other deputies in a Law Enforcement range competition, with a .38 though. Dad was proud. ☺️

Eating squirrels gives people funny accents! :gig
I almost forgot! Would you like some of my squirrels? Actually you can take them all!
We have so many gray squirrels and the silkies free range with them under the wild bird feeders. Once in a while, I see a silkie charging one, who doesn't go far, and as soon as the silkie returns to foraging, the squirrel comes back to eat. With all the mites and lice they can carry, amazingly my silkies don't get 'em other than the scaly leg kind now and then.

The red ones though, as long as they stay off our deck and our house, they are fine, but once they start doing that, out I come with my 20-gauge.
