The Old Folks Home

We lost power for a couple of hours on Saturday afternoon, due to wind, I'm guessing. A VERY short power outage for around here!

We got a generator in 1999, and NOT because of Y2K. We'd had a couple of 2-3 day power outages and said that was enough.
Solar panels and Tesla Powerwalls here. The only way we know the power went out is the clock on the wall oven resets, it isn't backed up by the Powerwalls given it isn't a critical need and eats a lot of power.

Apparently we had a power outage Monday afternoon while I was out shopping. Probably related to the semi that managed to go off the 2 lane road (on a straight section) 1 mile from my house. We did have snow. Police had the road blocked. 13 mile "detour" to get home. Which is about the distance from the store to home without the detour.

I’m really sorry to hear that 😞

Time starts to fly by, and it gets easier and easier for bad habits to catch up with you. Thank you for the reminder to prioritize my health. I really do need to get my eating and drinking under control, and this has been kind of a kick in the butt.
Plenty of people here older than you who will agree with @CapricornFarm's comment. Maybe you are old enough to listen but not so old that it is too late ;) My younger daughter, at 28, hasn't yet managed the first part. Not that she has bad life habits but hasn't been to a dentist or had a physical in many years.

Good morning Old Folks what I have learned from past Protect your mind.
It got wet outside not raining.
Lots of evidence is showing problems later in life from concussions in our youth.

I had one big concussion when I was13 or 14 years old.

Anyway, here I sit in the car, on the shoulder of the road. The tire got slit when I ran over a rock or brick or some such thing. I was trying to avoid it, but no dice. I was going to change the tire, but I don't have the right tools. I have it up on the jack though. You even need a special tool to get the spare tire out of the trunk. How stupid is that?

I hope you are safe at home by now beside a warm fire.

Sometimes the tool that works the spare can also remove the lug nuts.

I hope you get the tire changed soon!

The coop that came with the house is mostly sheet metal, and it's rusting below the surface. I've had several predators get in, and lots of mice.

I did two sections of repair today, where it was easy for animals to dig in under the metal walls. This was where the rust was the worst. Whenever it rains the water pools in that area, so the water catchment gutters should solve part of the problem.

I dragooned the LDS missionaries to help, since they always need opportunities for service.
