The Old Folks Home

I can get up at 4:30am and drive to the nearest Krispy Kreme place... Then stop at the Dunkin Donut for their Apple Cinnamon donuts I really like. If only someone would fill some with coconut cream I'd be in deep trouble.
We have a very good bakery here in town! Sadly the owner will be closing it down soon. Even if someone takes it over, It would likely drop in quality.

Happened here. Great bakery half an hours drive from home, but worth the drive. New owners - no longer good.

The nearest good bakery to us is the one in our Publix supermarket about 30 miles away. They have good stuff. Expensive but good. Wide selection of cakes but only make coconut cream off and on for the pies. They have a killer Key Lime pie too. Donuts are good but not Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donut good. Their fresh vegetables are the best in the area with the exception of tomatoes. We can get them locally better.

We harvested the first of our early sweet corn this afternoon. Wormy but enough for us to start. The rest I'll dust the silks with pyrethen or sevin to put a stop to the little thieves. One row of Cowhorn okra and one row of Clemson spineless got planted finally. More of that to plant when the ground is workable with I suspect will be about Tuesday afternoon or maybe Wednesday. The Black Eyed peas and Pine Eye Purple Hulls planted after we are done with the okra. 60 more tomato plants are getting started tomorrow for canning and sauce. I don't expect many days off before the first week in November or later. Here our cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, etc are fall and winter crops. Collards grow best in cold weather too.
