Growing up, my mother didn't allow the doors in our home(s) to remain shut for extended periods of time. Of course you could close the bedroom door to get dressed, or for privacy, but when the need was over with, the door was to be opened. Same thing with the bathrooms. Once done in the bathroom, the doors were to be opened. No steam or dampness lingering for long periods of time.

The other thing she insisted on was that all the AC vents were to be fully opened, and stay that way. She always said that good air circulation throughout a home, would prevent molds, and mildew. All I know is, we never had any mold, or mildew problems in any of our homes.

I've always followed that, and never had any issues either, so there may be something to it.

Yesterday was a busy day for me. I vacuumed, and mopped, which is quite a bit of work in this house. The bending, and stooping tend to make my back ache some.

To add to that, Monday I ordered a nice set of pool chaise lounge chairs, with a matching little table, for our pool. When we moved in, I had an older, cheap set of them, but they didn't last all that long. I was going to replace them, but the prices skyrocketed, and I kept putting it off, so for the past few years, we've done without. Now, it's getting to the end of pool season, and Walmart had a fantastic sale on a really nice set, so I ordered one.

They arrived about 30 minutes after I finished mopping. I assembled every bit of it myself. Of course, that meant a couple hours of bending, and hunching down to get all the bolts screwed in, etc. I did it, but boy howdy, my back was fussing at me when I finally got done.

After assembling all that, you should have relaxed for a spell by the pool.

At the same time though... my older sis and a cousin of mine are super sure that the US will have a huge mess (civil unrest and such), and are leaving the US within the next month.

Where are they going?

Yup well said I am realist if it has to happen just do not put it in my lap.
What county is any better than ours?

That about sums up my thoughts too. The devil you know beats the devil you don't.

I don't have my head in the sand, but sometimes the goings on here do surprise me.

The chicken AI situation was BAD a few months ago. A large commercial egg producer had AI in one of their largest flocks. All the birds were culled. They are probably less than 20 miles from me.

I have also read the proposed changes to Michigan's Right To Farm Act that include changing the minimum size of property to have chickens to 1/4 acre. 5 chickens per quarter acre, capped at 25 chickens.

That could impact my neighbor who has 30? 36? chickens.

That about sums up my thoughts too. The devil you know beats the devil you don't.

I don't have my head in the sand, but sometimes the goings on here do surprise me.

Sadly, most (not all) other countries are experiencing things just as bad, or worse, than we are here.

Yeah, even when the news makes me want to run away from it all, I realize there is probably nothing better out there.

I'm not able to start over very well, either, at my age.

Even if we sold our house and land for some ridiculous, inflated price, I sincerely doubt that we could find something we like as well for the same amount.

We'll ride out any coming storm(s) here.

Yes, I am aware at the market value of our home, and considered selling, but like you, I can't find anything comparable for the price, that we would like as well as this place, so there's no advantage.

Good morning old folks. I think we have another 4-5 weeks of heat then we will be able to sit on the porch and enjoy watching a few pets run and chase bugs for a bit in the afternoons. Need to get moving for a supply run today. One stop at the farmers market for peaches....

Four or five weeks of heat left, then sit on the porch for two days, then winter will run you in the house.
