The Old Folks Home

Well it is almost 2am and the power is still off but I have no clue when it went off. I got Ma woke up and then we got her CPAP connected to a tank of oxygen instead of the oxygen generator that was not working without power. I hope I can get back to sleep soon.

Everything back to normal?

Yes back to normal. It wasn't off long after we got the Oxygen situation resolved. We seldom loose power but living where the trees line the highways when we get a storm blowing every so often a tree will take out a line or a lightning strike takes out a transformer.

NJ townships provide a free rabies shot clinic annually. TSC has periodic vaccination clinics that are generally very reasonable here.
The vets we go to now do a rabies clinic at their office once a month (I think) on a Saturday usually. I'm not sure the cost but it's not free. Maybe 35$ The now defunct Orscheln's in Kirksville used to do a rabies clinic also for a nominal fee.

We're back to reality here weather wise. Two really nice days in the low 50s now it's going back the other way temp wise. I'm seeing chances for snow showers and possible ice in the coming week. Looking ahead they are saying 50ish on Christmas Eve. I will believe that when I see it.

My little bantam rooster is completely healed. No more scabs. I tried to put his sire in with him who is two years older than he is and they immediately went at it beak and nail. Okay, plan B. I found one of my old bantam ladies who isn't laying any more and tried her in with him and it was love at first sight. I'm planning on putting up a separating wall of chicken wire in my main coop and putting the old girls in with him since I can't see him being integrated back into the flock.

Other than getting ready to start baking cookies and making out Christmas Cards, it's oh blah dee oh blah dah around here.

I'm not surprised to hear about Orscheln closing up. They never had a decent inventory of farm supplies when I lived in NW MO.
