The Old Folks Home

I'll wind down soon. Not a much down time today as the last few days. The combination of Strep and Pneumonia takes it out of you. 7 more days of antibiotics and maybe I can get some more things done outside. I hate not being able to keep projects moving on these pleasant sunny days where it is not to hot or cold.

I don't remember our MI winters as being that cold in Southern MI. Northern small town from Detroit. Royal Oak area. I do remember the heavy wet snow and ice on the roads. I well remember going into a neighborhood down a hill and not being able to get back up because the street was iced over. That's when I got snow tires with those traction giving studs inserted in them. Just couldn't use those tires out on the highways because the studs could come flying out at highway speeds. I don't miss those days at all. I never new real cold until we live in NW MO and got gale force winds coming in off the great plains in January/February when the temps could 20° below zero. I handled that OK I guess. I was young and tough and took a two quart Stanley Thermos filled with iced tea with me out to the woods to cut firewood in knee deep snow at 20 below.
