The Old Folks Home

Hey OF! Can’t believe it’s Labor Day weekend! Time really does go faster when you’re older! While we have fresh tomatoes I’m indulging in BLT sandwiches for lunch. I figured it’s easier to cook the bacon on a heavy pan like a griddle on my gas grill outside. That way I can cook all the slices I need at once and I won’t be smelling bacon grease in my towels! Not that there’s anything wrong with the smell of bacon…

Today we cleaned the chimney. It went easier than it has in the past, and we were both surprised at the amount of stuff scrubbed out. It was a lot LESS than we thought it would be. It was light and fluffy, not sticky, tarry stuff. We are all set for another season of fires in the woodstove.

Our last electric bill was $151. Highest ever. That is probably due to running: 2 room window A/C units, a dehumidifier, and me doing a lot of canning (electric stove). The canning is almost done, don't need the A/C much, if at all, anymore, and the basement probably doesn't need the dehumidifier much anymore either.

Our power runs like 148.00 a month about the same no air conditioners today but everything will be cooked on the stove top.
Sun just came out here cloudy rest of the day.
