Good afternoon Old Folks. Soon to be afternoon chore time. Got a big ole Boston Butt in the kettle grill smoking away with some cherry wood. It will be slow smoking until midnight which will be about a 12 hour slow smoke. Some will be consumed tomorrow lunch as pulled pork sandwiches with some chips and dip and the rest frozen in tubs soaking in a good sauce for future hurry up meals when we don't have time to prepare. If we like this marinade that we used I have another one in the freezer to smoke some rainy day for saucing down in meal tubs for other rainy days.

Looking like our long drought might be over with a 94% chance of rain Sunday Morning.

It is so great to see this thread is still active and so many familiar friends from days gone by. There are also new old folks so I hope to get to know them, as well.

In case you didn’t know who “Lisa” was when Canuckbock (Tara) mentioned me, it’s Wisher. I realize it’s been a LONG time, but you know, life.

I still have Campines, I have added other birds, but no other breeds of chickens. We built a pond on our place last year and I have been enjoying introducing new waterfowl to the farm and I’m currently enamored with my geese. I would insert pics but I don’t see how that’s done right now, so I’ll do that later.

I just wanted to say “Good Morning!”

Braved the ordeal of packing the camera round (-6C Wed night...mere t-shirt weather!).

I did take some clicks of the adult Sweetgrass turk a lurks. They truly need to stop lining up like this...looks to me like one of those Fair ground games where you get a prize if you use a popgun to flip one over at the shooting gallery. Sic...

This tom looks quite like a Royal Palm (little rust to ruin his white) more than a Sweetgrass but that indeed is the pattern for both.

Perhaps Alaskan was worried with T-Day just past that we ATE all the turks...so there, proof we have adults.

Now to avoid the sleet coming down and take some clicks of the youngsters eventually along our travels with the camera doing the chores.

Well I have retrieved a few of your pics you have sent me over the years and hope against hope you don't mind I share them with the rest of the OF's here until you see the "attach" files button and go about posting your own...

You do indeed have your lovely Campines (adore the photo bomb!) - Jan 2024 is when you sent me this one! You lucky dog to have such a big water feature...our two ponds are nothing quite this large.

These two must most certainly be more than a handful or two by now - Sep 6 2022!! Fluppies...how cute and fortunate you are.

And this absolutely stellar goose you just sent me reminds me of our own Charlotte (Salutations indeed)!

Hope I am not in grave troubles with you for sharing yer pics on your thread here...

A post with some visuals is just perfection in my books!

The Big Boston Butt has been soaking up the Cherry smoke for 8 hours with 4 more to go. It's going to be worth it to stay up until Midnight to bring it in and put in the oven at a holding temp until pulling it apart after breakfast in the morning. Ordered a gallon of our favorite sauce this morning to use as we pull it apart and prepare to freeze meal size portions for the freezer.

Goodnight Old Folks. Need to get to bed now that our hunk of meat is done in the smoker. Later today we will pull it into meal size servings and freeze most of it. Homemade pulled pork sandwiches for lunch tomorrow. Tomorrows agenda calls for getting ready for thunderstorms Sunday Morning followed by a heavy thunderstorm according to the Guessers. Hoping this brings and end to the drought.
