The Old Folks Home

Heel low:

Braved the ordeal of packing the camera round (-6C Wed night...mere t-shirt weather!).

I did take some clicks of the adult Sweetgrass turk a lurks. They truly need to stop lining up like this...looks to me like one of those Fair ground games where you get a prize if you use a popgun to flip one over at the shooting gallery. Sic...

This tom looks quite like a Royal Palm (little rust to ruin his white) more than a Sweetgrass but that indeed is the pattern for both.

Perhaps Alaskan was worried with T-Day just past that we ATE all the turks...so there, proof we have adults.

Now to avoid the sleet coming down and take some clicks of the youngsters eventually along our travels with the camera doing the chores. :gig

Good morning indeed! :celebrate

Well I have retrieved a few of your pics you have sent me over the years and hope against hope you don't mind I share them with the rest of the OF's :old here until you see the "attach" files button and go about posting your own...

Your turkeys are gorgeous!! I only had turkeys once, and not to breed, just to grow out to eat... they were fun.

The relative I lost that hurt the most was my Aunt...what a woman and she helped me understand the culture my ancestors embraced.

Having sheep, growing flax for linen, the farmy stuff.

I miss her terribly as I use to get to visit with her daily via my internet posts. She was pretty kewl for someone being born in 1928 and encouraged me to plant this 1/4 acre of flax.

When it starts blooming, the flowers last but one day but there are so many of them you never notice till the snow flies and ends the growing season. The bees here luved them.

My aunt enabled me and pestered me to no end to have Jacob sheep, learn to spin, weave, knit and crank out socks. Course she got the 1st ever weaving project I ever made, this scarf with my own handspun in it.

I shared every moment of making it from shearing the sheep to weaving it; she never knew it was all for her until I mailed it to her in January 2020. There is no distance between you if you are adept at using social media!

Her fav bird of ours was our Seb Geese...
