The Old Folks Home

We are here. Something like -5 tonight. But we usually have a real freaking cold spell in January. I think I saw something like -8 over the weekend for the low but tomorrow the high is supposed to be 3.

Glad I'm not a chicken and glad I don't have to sleep in the barn is all I can say. At least it looks like Northern Missouri is missing the big snow that is going to hit the south end of the state.

Stay warm everyone.

We think we finally figured out Pi's mystery breed. I set one afternoon and made a mental list of all the dog breeds around us. We know she is half border collie for sure so daddy was a mystery. We have German Shepherds, Great Pyrenees, Corgi and a big hulking mix breed that might be GSD/Pyrenees mix. None of those check out. Then I remembered that there is a Black border collie about 2 miles from us where I used to buy my chicken feed and they have a little Shiba Inu male named Snoopy. I know both dogs, they are sweethearts and I used to bring them a pocket full of cookies when I went to buy feed.

BINGO! This is a pic that I found on line of a Border Inu puppy.

I don't know what the circumstances are that brought her to our gate. Don't care. She is growing fast, driving us nuts and we are loving every minute of it. But I suspect she was left on our doorstep so to speak on purpose maybe due to my affection for Lady and Snoopy. Whatever, we love her and are glad that she is a member of the family.
