The Old Folks Home

Wisher there are a lot of really good Ameraucana breeders on the site. I know that Peachick has birds that lay beautiful blue eggs.

I know! I saw a pic of some beautiful blue eggs that Mahonri hatched for the Easter Hatchalong last year. I will have to go back and see who they were from. I am a bit nervous about ordering shipped eggs because of all the horror stories I have read. Still, I am considering giving it a try. I have been having good hatches lately and think that it is something I would like to try.

Stumpy, since you want a dark brown egg layer and a deep blue egg layer, you could order six eggs of each, have them shipped to me, I will incubate and brood them, and you could pick the best pullet from each group to keep!

Something to think about, ole buddy, ole pal........

This pic is on Mahonri's profile page. Now that's what I call blue eggs!

Now, there's an idea.....

Speaking of eggs - I have pips! This is lockdown day and I was in there to monitor the turner (I like to have the trays level when I turn it off,) when I noticed the pips. I added water to boost the humidity and will turn off the turner as soon as it cycles back to level.

Went to the feed store today and they are out, again, of medicated chick starter. I'm starting to wonder why the fellow asks me how many I will need next week; Maybe I should exaggerate and double my request, just so I can get the few I do need. Where is the smiley with the devil horns?!!

How long to I need to feed medicated for once the chicks touch the ground??

I have Keeeets! That's what I have hatching right now. One out, one I'm helping because it was shrink wrapped, and several just pipped.

Arrielle- I leave them on starter until they are 12 weeks then start mixing in layer a little at a time until what I have left is all gone.
