The Olive-Egger thread!

The barred roo you have will pass the barring to HALF his of spring. Use a Cuckoo and you will get some double barred roos, but not all 50/50. All the pullets will be barred right from either hatch.

Are they the eggs you got from me? If so that is a Sexlinked Olive Egger Roo from my barred EE hens. You didn't get any blues from my hatch? Odd.... the roos is a Blue Copper Marans... should have gotten some.......

Oh I got blues from you, just not sure if they're roos yet

But I also tossed in some eggs from my BCM roo over my BR hens and EE hens, just to see what I got. I'm having a tougher time telling them apart at hatch than I thought though. Out of 5 brown eggs, only 3 chicks have no beards/straight combs. And the little roo looks non-bearded/straight combed so far, so I assumed he was from my eggs.
I'm trying to figure out how 2 of my crosses look bearded though. Just baby fluff? LOL I keep staring at them, trying to see adult coloring, but no such luck yet. I'm planning to keep everybody until they lay or crow, then pick the ones I want for breeding and either sell the rest or add them to my laying flock, so I'm not too worried about sex-linking just yet. I just like trying to sort out all the different combinations I could try.

But your eggs hatched out some nice blues and what looks like a lavender. I need to get some better pics this weekend. They're starting to feather up a little so the colors show better now.

I brought him in to get pics where the light is a little brighter, and I'm thinking maybe he's from your batch after all. He's much lighter than my black chickies, and look pea-combish compared to them. He enjoyed riding in my coat from brooder coop to the house, but was happy to get back to the flock

Only if you want light colored green eggers, you need a CLB roo over a Black/Bluec copper Maran hen, take the best roo out of that cross and mate it back to the another BCM hen and this way you will encrease the shade of the dark green eggs...
why do you say it would be lite green? My first gen lavender ameraucana x barnevelder laid a very dark olive egg.

My BCM rooster over my blue egg laying EE's produced a beautiful olive egg, 1st generation. The EE's are gone and the first generation OE are now with a BCM rooster and an OE cockerel, along with FBCM pullets, which could go both ways in hatch, either I get FBCM or an OE. I had a FBCM pullet hatch out 6 from them, there is 5 left and she has since decided she is done teaching them, I had to put my eco-glow brooder out with them, I tried putting my blind chicken in with them, it didn't work she laid with them, but wouldn't let them cuddle. Most of the colors are black with one blue. I need to try to get pictures.

I love the eggs on the white plate! (in the photo right under your post). I'm finally starting to get some of those colors now. Is the plate on a homemade concrete slab?

No, actually while digging a flower garden I found these buried. Free is Free. Thanks on the eggs. I set eggs with spots and drips on them and hope to get a crazy layer. I love them. Once the egg color gets just right, next it will be the feathering. I'm like a mad chicken scientist.

Had to post a few pics of Chowder, my Olive Egger rooster. He is an Ameracuana x Welsummer cross. He is the perfect gentleman. Couldn't get the Olive Egger hens to stand still long enough to get their pics.

In this pic, Chowder's mom is in the back and the other beauty is a Easter Egger that I got from Orscheln's this Spring.
