The Olive-Egger thread!

So if I want to keep some blue & barring in the mix, I'm better off crossing him with my bluest laying EE's?
Or maybe not using him at all and seeing what other roos I get from this batch....

Am I always stuck breeding back to a blue egg layer to keep the olive color going? I've seen the chart in this thread showing different generations of olive egg color crossing, but not what mixes of birds made those eggs.

Ugh! I need to learn more about what genes I have to work with in my flock

Same with these. This was the color of eggs I got at beginning of their laying cycle, so the the light lessened I got eggs that appear to be dipped.

What color egg did it come from? Is it an Olive Egger?
He came from a blue copper marans x barred EE cross. Olive colored egg if my notes are right.

Hen-wise I have barred rocks, welsummers, cuckoo marans, EE's (laying greenish and a few good blues).
Babies I have a mix of blue/black copper marans crossed with EE/barred rock/ameraucana. Not sure which are hens or roos yet other than the guy in the pics I posted.

Only one adult roo in the flock now, a black copper marans. Just trying to figure out good combos for interesting/olive eggs and some new bird colors. I can keep 2 more roos besides my existing guy.
