I just ordered a few Olive Egger chicks, and I was wondering if anyone would mind posting a few pictures of their Olive Eggers as chicks? I understand they don't look all alike, but I ordered them with a few other breeds and hope to be able to identify them from the rest. Thanks!

I don't believe so, I can see how that would really influence their looks though

if you dont know the parentage its just not possible to guess what they could look like... but Olive eggers SHOULD have pea combs, so you can see this when they hatch,

What breeds do they use to create the olive egger? Who did you order from?

It will all depend on the parents. I make my OEs using a Black Copper Marans rooster and 2 different looking EE hens. ALL chicks that are hatched using this cross are ALWAYS black and when they grow up they are black with some copper in the hackles. The reason my chicks all hatch black is because my rooster has a dominant black gene that he passes to all his offspring.

You are correct. Looking for pea comb and even most chicks will have muffs. That is how I identify mine also.

yes most of them will have it, specially if they are F1s...

I have eggs incubating that are Cream Legbar over Black Copper Marans. High percentage that any non pea comb chicks will not carry the blue gene in this case and be brown layers? (This is a question)
