The Olive-Egger thread!

Here is my little Maran X EE or OE cross chick at 2 weeks. Starting to see fuzz coming in on her legs which are still a dark green and the comb still looks like a single pea comb. She also has little tuffs on her cheeks. Please Please Please be a Pullet!!!!!

She's very cute! I have one, true Ameracauna roo father BCM mother. I'm playing the waiting and hoping game too!

I got very discouraged/disappointed too many times with the Ameraucana crosses with months of waiting only to finally pronounce them cockerels. I'm going with the single comb OE as F1 hybrids as I don't think it's going to be in my lifetime that someone figures out how to make a breed of the Olive Eggers where they will reproduce themselves reliably. With the single combs, I only have to wait a few weeks. That's the theory, anyhow.

Are you using Cream Legbar and Crele Penedesenca? They make wonderful OE that lay huge eggs.

Lol we went to find some blue egg layers and got a few potentials. A guy had two Ameracauna roos with Ameracauna and BCM hens. One hatched with muffs and beard but is so big and bold it's probably a boy, the other looks very similar to my BCM chicks, but with a little less feathering on the legs and a little lighter overall. If it's a girl I might've gotten lucky. I thought I'd be having to breed my own OEs using my EE roo. :)
But, yes, I'm finding out these combs are no help! Lol
