Sigh. I lost my olive egger the other day, but she was so pretty. I loved her chocolate feathers. Her name was Eminem (like chocolate MnMs) and laid a pretty olive egg. I hope to get more sometime.

So sorry for your loss.
Was it natural causes?

I tie a a grocery bag on the door knob so my kids don't accidentally let the dogs out while the chickens are free ranging.

i got six OE fertile eggs in the incubatoe, so we shall see what comes of it.

The two gray/blue chicks , one in the back, one in the front, are the only two olive eggers that have hatched. One has a little copper color on the head.....dots
I have a couple more that should hatch in a couple of days. Sadly, I did not mark the eggs.
Anyway. Hoping one of these turns out hen. Don't we all hope the same thing.
They are a pretty gray blue color.

Hi, My OE is around 5 weeks old, can anyone tell me if it's a pullet or cockerel? I recently noticed 3 rows on the pea comb which indicates cockerel in EE's but I wasn't sure if if it held true in OEs??

I believe it holds true for pea combs in general....tho some folks don't think that's an indicator.

Hiya! I was wondering what you guys thought about crossing an Araucana rooster with a Red Star hen. I'm gonna try this cross to see what kind've layers result. I'll keep you guys posted on what happens

I am trying to figure out what color this fluff becomes.This is the first chick this color that my chickens have given me. All the others have been black, blue, or silver chipmunk fluffs.




An older silver chipmunk chick has a black laced white head and partridge feathers on the body for the juvenile coloring.
