The Olive-Egger thread!

Looks like a pullet!

How old is she?

Shes 8 weeks old! :) she's the sweetest ever!

At 8 weeks old I would agree, looks like a pullet. Around 4 weeks mine start showing differences enough to tell them apart with relative accuracy, at 8 weeks old it is a pretty safe bet considering your girl has no comb development or redness yet.

Hello! I just received my first olive egger hatching egg as part of a mix. It is being called a "barred olive egger" and I would like more info if you all have it! First, does a barred OE mean a cuckoo maran parent and an ee mix (I received EEs and a CCL as part of the mix)? Second, will this chick be a sex link? Third, is this a true OE? And finally (if you aren't sick of my ignorant questions yet), how likely will the hen (fingers crossed it hatches and is a female) lay eggs as beautiful as this one? Thank you for all of the help!

What went into the making of the olive egger? The answer to your questions would be more easily discerned if we had that answer. Otherwise, it's just guesswork. You can get barred OE's using both cuckoo marans or cream legbars. My welsumers lay nice dark specked eggs so perhaps that could be in he background
So many things about chickens are "wait and see."

Woah!! That's so cool!!

I'd ask the seller what cross (exactly what 2 breeds) it is from....and if it's a fluke or a regular happening.

That is the prettiest egg I have ever scene! Is the color true to the picture? I also want to know about what cross made that egg. Kern
