The Olive-Egger thread!

Some EE are blue.... solid blue or blue based and you can get blue..... I know... I breed them. I don't need genetics to tell me you could get blues from blue and black birds. I have breed EE, Olive Eggers and Marans. BBS I understand just fine.

first. he didnt state what type of easter EE he had, second most EEs out there look like this chick

this is what he posted.

I will be hatching EEs eggs covered by BCM roo late this summer. I want to then breed those chicks back to the BCMs roo(for darker olive coloring) ..but they are his daughters...is this..well...bad chicken breeding??

so seeing how most EEs out there are not blue, splash or even Dun based(but some are, he just didnt say it) I have to assume that he is not talking about BBS or Dun based EE

hey jklyles1 what color are your EE hens?

The white one is a Bresse pullet.

This is when they were younger:

Quote: So you would get Black from the brown and black pullet, You could get blue or black from the Blue and Brown pullet and the White? If she is Dom White you will get some white chicks if she is rec white, who knows what color is under her.

I have seen all kinds of pretty EE on the EE thread and I KNOW they come in all kinds of pretty colors like BLUE. Most EE owners breed for pretty colors. Even the ones from hatcheries are coming in pretty colors. I have even hat Lacing pop up on my Olive Eggers so you can just hatch them and see what kinda of pretty chicks you get. AND pretty eggs

Is this considered lacing?(neck part) Its coming out more as she gets older. They will be 18 weeks tomorrow. Cant wait to see what I get!!! My BCMs roo is only 8 weeks so it will be a little while before i can hatch

I have a "spare" wheaten ameraucana that I keep as back up, but he has no girls, so I put a couple of my F1 OE with him, so he won't be lonely. What color will their offspring lay, do you think? I'm never sure if I'm reading Illia's chart right. Do you think I'll get dull spearmint?

My second generation came out a nice olive color. I bred back to a Lavender AM, to add more blue. Then they will go back to the olive egger roo.
