The Olive-Egger thread!

Well, here are my 2 at about 9 weeks old. The little one, Gwen, was scrawny and feather-picked with a lot of bare spots. Still only has a few fluffs for a tail, but seems like she sprouted whiskers overnight!

Osprey on the other hand, is huge and is almost the size of my 15 week old Cream Legbars. She's going to be a big girl and is so mellow.

Really hoping they are pullets. Combs are still pale pink with a single row of peas down the middle.

They are so beautiful! And Osprey is a perfect name!

I wanted to share my olive eggers. I have a total of 3. The hens all were mothered by my cream legbar hen. All were sired by my FBCM rooster.

I'm getting three olive eggs a day. Here's the eggs (with a couple others for color comparison):

And here's one of the hens. A couple have a little more copper around the neck, but of the 10 or so chicks I've now hatched with this mix, this is the norm. I love their little toupees. I think it's cute.

Those are great eggs! The Hen is very nice looking too.

How long have your OE been laying? Has the eggshell color and texture stayed consistent? Has the size stayed consistent or are the eggs getting larger?

They've only been laying about 3 weeks now. I hatched this batch mid January, and they started laying mid June. So far, the eggs have all been identical in color, and have been slowly getting bigger. I expect they'll end up being a large or XL when they're not pullet eggs anymore.

I really like them a lot. I call them my "goth girls" with their black feathers, sticking together and looking like angsty teens with their punk hairstyles.

Their color screams cockerel to me...
