The Olive-Egger thread!

One of the LF OE chicks that hatched from the eggs I got from you looks different from Violet (the others all look just like her). It has dark feathering on the head, wings and back but the chest is speckled. Very pretty bird, I think it's a roo, not certain yet. Will try to post a pic next week when I have time, can't get the darn thing to stand still for me, lol.
Oh Id love to see pics!!! Do you have pics of the bantams? I hatched 2 bantam EE same time as you and they are complete opposites, like Day and Night. The White one has grayish lacing and some black tail feathers she also has a crest, 5 toes, and light greenish feathered legs. The Other is black with some white speckles, yellow and black legs, no 5th toes or feathered legs also no crest. They don't look related lol. Ill take pics today. I cant wait to see your Olive Eggers too!

Two of the bantams are white with black speckles, crested, feathered legs (will have to check toes & leg color). I believe one is a roo and one is a pullet, they make the most adorable little couple.

I have 2 extra silkied feathered AM roosters for sale. These are not mixed with a Silkie. If any one is interested in making some silkied feathered OE'S pm me. They are both under 17 weeks old and splash.

Thank you! I've been very pleased with this cross thus far. I LOVE that they're sex linked. It's so convenient. It'll be a tough call when my current batch of legbars are completely mature- do I put them with the FBCM for sex linked OE? Or do I put them with the legbar rooster for autosexing purebreds? Decisions, decisions.

Sol2Go, I'll definitely keep you posted on how the size goes as they grow. They've been laying less than a month, and two have only started in the last couple weeks. Today I got three eggs. They were 36 g, 44 g and 45 g. This is only the second time I've gotten three olives in a single day, so I suspect the 36 g egg is from a hen just barely starting out.

I;ve just crossed my CL hen with an OE. I ddint even think about the chicks being sex linked. But the OE roo I used was also barred. . . . so does that mess the whole thing up?

Does anyone have photos of the offspring of a Welsummer Rooster crossed with a Wheaten Ameraucana hen or a Welsummer Rooster crossed with a blue Ameraucana hen? Would love to see egg pictures too from these first generation Olive Eggers if anyone has them.
