Barred roosters over unbarred hens make all barred chicks (assuming he is double factored for barring and not a barred sex link rooster which would have only one barring gene which would only be passed to half of his offspring with no sex-linking happening.)

Yes that is it. But also an amerucauna over cuckoo hens will also give you mostly single barred male chicks. And solid color pullet chicks

These are cuckoo Marans roo over lavender and black amerucauna hens. These are also sexable by head spots on top of their head.

I don't see how these chicks are sexable by color or head spot. The cuckoo rooster gave one copy of the gene to each chick, regardless of gender, so they're all single barred/cuckoo. Sexing pure barred or cuckoo birds by the head spot relies on the double barring gene in pure males giving a larger, messier spot.

that's what i thought, but i don't know all of the ins and outs of sexing cuckoos. I just know the surefire way of barred hens and unbarred males.

I agree and understand the barring. I am just saying in my experiences. I know that about 90-95 % will be male with larger head spot. And occasionally one with smaller spot will be.

Partridge and Crele Penedesencas are similar with sexing. They are listed as being 80 to 90% sexable. It is not by a spot on the head though--more of a color difference at hatch.

Does anyone have a pretty OE pullet for sale? I want to add color to my egg basket and a pretty girl to my flock. I can't have a rooster so it needs to be sexed correctly but would prefer a something in the 8-12 week range. I love cuckoos and fun project colors! I am in Houston.

ETA a more complete answer now that I'm not on my phone. And because if I asked that question and got a one word answer it would drive me nuts because I like to know how/why things work. Feather sexing is depending upon BOTH of the parents having the correct fast or slow feathering gene, which is something that is already inherent in a breed, or must be bred into a line. White CX are a good example of birds that you can feather sex, but a majority of breeds/lines are not bred for this particular feature.
