Pure legbar males will be double barred, legbar over Marans cockerel chicks will be single barred.Hello everyone! I am just now reading through some of the posts so I may answer my own question but here it goes.
I am getting a quad of marans next weekend (1 black copper roo and 3 splash hens) and I am waiting for some cream legbar eggs to hatch right now (so obviously I am thinking way into the future lol)
would crossing maran roo X leg bar hen produce the same results as leg bar roo X maran hen?
If so could I technically put them in the same pen and when I incubate and hatch eggs I would have a mix of pure marans (which would be blue cause of the bcm and splash cross), pure legbars and then olive eggers? The only problem I can see with this is that since barring is dominate (?) the legbar roo X maran hen crosses will be hard to identify from the pure legbar males...Im just guessing here though. Im really just learning about genetics as I go.
Thanks for your help!
