Quick question. I have two roosters that I think are black stars that hatched from brown eggs.

Can I cross one of them with my banty EE to get a OE?

I think in general black stars tend to lay a light/medium brown egg, so the egg color would be less likely to be "olive" colored, unless your bantam already lays a fairly green shelled egg.

It should be green, but a lighter green than what we would typically call "olive."

Hi Rich!

Try posting the picture again by using the add image tool from the tool bar. You will need to reply or quote to a post.

By the time you get to F3, it is often hard to guarantee green for the egg color. Usually, there are a lot of brown or even white eggs.
