The Olive-Egger thread!

Pat the F2 OE finally produced and graced the coop with this little gem this morning!

Pat is FBCM roo x FBCM/CCL hen
She's solid black with no crest, but has slightly feathered legs and
is a real cuddler
That is one of the darkest eggs I have seen that still is obviously green and not appearing to be some off shade of brown. Very cool color, congrats!

Named after the SNL character because it was the only non-sex-linkable chick that hatched last year (everything else was auto-sexing or sex-linked) and we had no idea what gender it was for the longest time..... A very apt name.

Here are some of today's eggs - the olive color is getting deeper. I'm also getting some that are gray and some that are pinkish.

All eggs from the young mixed breed pullets - all have same mama (who is a mixed breed herself 1/2 EE and 1/2 Barred Rock) and one of the two BCM daddys.

The young full-blooded Marans from this pen are also laying - notice the speckled eggs. I think they are my favorite. I only get them when a young BCM starts laying.

I love the speckled eggs! Nice olive ones too!

Hello everyone! I am new to olive eggers. I currently have Cream Legbars and Ameracaunas. I have hatching eggs ordered that will consist of Isbars, Black Copper Marans and Olive Eggers. Fingers crossed that they hatch and I can start crossing with my current blue eggs layers. I am very excited to start experimenting.

Wow, those are gorgeous! Are those eggs really as purple as they look?

Walked into one of the coops today and one of my young OE's (hopefully, she's not yet laying) jumped onto my shoulder. She is the friendliest chicken I've ever had. The strangest part to me is that her dad turned out to be very mean. I bred him before realizing that when he was pretty young. He became chicken soup later. Both chicks from him are very sweet pullets though. No roos. I was worried they might inherit his temperament, but nope! I usually sell the hens that turn out to lay brown eggs, but this one's a keeper no matter what.
