The Olive-Egger thread!

I have not had mareks problems with my OEs, they are Penedesenca x Cream Legbar. I have new OEs that are Penedesenca x Arakansas Blue egg layers. So far they have been fine with mareks resistance.
Mine are Marans x legbar and Ameraucana. I think the Marans do not have any resistance at all (At least mine don't). My Wheaten crosses are also sick as well as the ones I gave to a neighbor.

Does anyone have a picture of an olive egg produced by a Cream Legbar Roo over a Welsummer mix? Or a picture of the hen produced by that combination? I'm looking for a hen for my Cream Legbar roo that will produce olive eggs. Thanks

I have a young pullet, not quite two months so not laying yet that is that combination. She looks like the welsumer mother but shade of brown is s little different. Will try to get a picture later to post.

We use BCM over CCL for this crested black OE. This is the egg color we're getting. These eggs were a mess so they are wet...darn pullets laying in the dirt instead of the boxes! The bird photos are of a pullet about three months and one at 6 weeks. If you use the CCL male all will be barred.

This is what my pure CL roo over my pure welsumer produces so your variation would be from whatever your welsumer is mixed with. These girls lay a nice kacki green egg (bottom middle egg)

So we have some EE chicks from Murray McMurray. They are three weeks tomorrow. I've noticed that some of them (maybe all?) have olive colored legs. Does leg color predict egg color at all?

Nope, not necessarily...most EE's have green legs and do lay green eggs tho, so maybe there is a correlation but I don't think it's a proven genetic tie.

I have EEs with all different leg colors. Slate, yellow, white, green.. They lay different shades of blue and green but there's no correlation between egg color and leg color.
