 they are actually F2 Cream Legbar x Red Star (ISA Brown cross). F1 was bred back to the Cream Legbar rooster so all offsprings should lay green to Olive eggs, not sure how dark. Only you can tell. My F1 Cream Legbar x Barnevelders still have 12-16 weeks before they start laying.

hello! I'm looking for some F2 or possibly F3 olive egger hatching eggs. I haven't seen any posted on the buy/sell/trade forum, so I thought I'd post here. I really love the deep and bright greens and would love to add a few to my flock. Thanks!

We have a few eggs that are Isbar X F1 BCM X CCL. This is the color of the F1 eggs (yes, they are wet). Second photo is same eggs dry.



We are hoping for more of the avocado greens with the cross to Isbar. If you really want the green eggs, how about just Isbars? Small LF, excellent foragers, feed efficient, loads of large eggs.

Beautiful Eggs! Thanks for the replies. Ihilani- I may be interested! The avacado color is what I was hoping to find. I came across an auction that is a few years old by "ruth", I think her name is Monique, she had a wide variety of teals through green, which were really beautiful. From the photos, the first generation crosses and the initial egg colors aren't as deep as the second generation crosses.

I've got 29 F1 and F2 OE eggs in the incubator right now, and I want to make sure that I know what I'll end up with, so I can give a disclaimer to the people who purchase any extra chicks I may have. Please correct me if I'm wrong:

F1: Ameraucana (not easter eggers) crossed with BCM and Welsummers : should be pea-combed and lay medium olive eggs, _?_% chance of straight-comb BROWN egg layers

F2: F1 olive egger crossed back to BCM rooster. Should lay darker olive eggs, higher chance of brown layers?? Or is it a lesser chance of laying brown when you get to F2? That's where things start getting complicated, right?

From what I understand about genetics, until a true-breeding olive layer is created, all of the crossbreeds will run a chance of laying brown, since that's just the way that genetics combine sometimes. My parents have brown eyes, brown hair, and are right-handed. I'm blonde, blue-eyed and left handed, for instance.

Do Olive Eggers have the chipmunk looking stripes like Easter Eggers when they are very young? I just received two chicks that are supposed to be Olive Eggers but one is black with white on the belly and the other has brown chipmunk stripes.

I'm going to jump in here.. I have been wanting to add olive-colored eggs to my basket.
I bought some hatching eggs and in that mix were 5 F3 OE's. I got 4 of those to hatch. The lady I purchased from said the hen was crested, and it looks like 3 of my chicks are as well. For F3's, (I guess the actual egg was an F2, chick inside is the F3) I expected more deep green olive color, but I don't know what she used to cross for 3 generations. Here are the F3s' (I don't know what they're out of)

I also have 6 EE pullets. Just got them in the spring - I don't know what color they are going to lay.

Now, I plan to keep 1 or 2 BCM roosters. I just picked up 5 chicks from a lady with nice birds (not that I'm an expert!)

So these guys will be where I start. I haven't read all these pages but I'm enjoying reading up as much as I can. I have a lot to learn, I don't even know the difference between a pea comb and a straight comb yet

I guess I have a lot of time to read up on this subject before my girls and boys are ready to produce the next generation.

Oh, I also have chestnut wheaton ameraucana chicks. I was going to sell them just to cut down - do you guys think it'd be best to keep a couple Ameraucana hens for part of this project or will my EE's work better?

F1 egg color will depend on the dark brown egg genetics carried by your Marans and Welsummer breeders...the darker their egg genes, the better your avocado color. If you get ANY brown eggs, your Ameraucana only carries one blue egg gene and is technically an EE.

Your BC1 birds (BCM X OE) are backcrosses, not F2. Unless they are BCM X Am crossed with Welsummer or Wel X AM crossed to BCM, in which case the jury is still out on labelling those. You have a 50% chance of darker olive (again, depending on the depth of color on the brown laying breed) and 50% chance of laying brown, since the OE will only carry one blue egg gene.

Combs can be pea or modified pea combs on F1. Apparently your chances of darker olive eggs from BC1 or "F2" increases if the bird in question has the pea comb genetics but it's not a guarantee.
