The Olive-Egger thread!

Got my first olive egg! At least I think it's olive. On the one week anniversary of our very first egg, we got two different colored eggs in the nest box! The light green eggs were laid by a buff and gray Easter Egger. The dark army green is from the one I was told was "not an olive Egger" earlier on this thread. She's solid green black with black/slate legs and the bottom of her feet are yellow. I was told by the lady that bred her that she was her last Ameri/aucana(?) Marans cross.

So is it "olive" enough? It looks pretty olive to me regardless of the color of the pullets feet.

how gorgeous!

This is a very good representation of Olive vs. light green EE colored eggs. Nice job (and congratulations!)

beautiful eggs!

Thank you everyone! She laid again today! This was today's offering from the girls:

400

The olive is a bit different. The brown is smoother and less grainy and I think the graying may be the bloom. I didn't rinse this one. Here are the two eggs from the olive Egger side by side:

400

I am hoping the dark olive eggs are fertile the top row is all hope the bottom row I am pretty sure are fertile.

top row dark olive is blue isbar/BCM, white is WCBP, three green isbar, lower olive is blue frizzle, tan eggs are blue isbar/australorp, lil' blue is isbar EE

My rooster didn't fertilize these. He was TOO polite,

I went to 2 local farms and got these eggs, the hens had more that 2 roosters on them, and one farm (the 6 eggs) had birds that are related to my birds so it is like I am hatching mine..

Lovely!

How beautiful! Even though I will be concentrating on large, dark brown eggers (Biels/Marans crosses), I've an opportunity to get a young CLxBCM cross who hasn't started laying yet, and after seeing your gorgeous eggs, I think I'll take her!!!!!!
