The Olive-Egger thread!

Congrats!!

I like to leave them in equal groups if possible, so I don't put a single in with the brooder group.

So what is the cross you're hatching?

3 easter egger hens and a Golden cuckoo marans rooster. I posted pics of both parents farther back in the thread

Congrats on your hatching. Love pictures of them. I don't post much but am keeping up to date with this chat.
Can't wait to get some olive Eggers. Its been hard. I am trying to understand how but somewhere I'm getting confused.
Lol

Here's the yellow chick that was upside down in the egg. I'm pretty sure it won't make it through the night. The others are walking around, it's still laying down almost all the time. Something is apparently wrong with it. Hope it makes it though, it's an interesting mystery why it's the color it is.

The last unpipped egg wasn't showing any movement, so I broke a hole in the airsac and checked for movement, none. It was fully developed, had absorbed its yolk, it was upside down and I guess drowned trying to pip. The numbers: 15 fertile, 2 quitters about halfway through (I did an eggtopsy on them), 1 upside down and died before pipping, 1 upside down and managed to pip (probably not going to make it), 9 hatched and fine, 2 in the process of unzipping the egg.

I just went and checked and it was dead. But one if the last 2 that were hatching was out and is another yellow one. It is really healthy, so I get one!
